VIVO does not bill insurance directly and is considered an out-of-network provider. Payment is due at the time of service.
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network acupuncture benefits, VIVO can provide a superbill upon request. A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the information your insurance company may need to process a reimbursement claim, such as service dates, diagnosis codes, procedure codes, provider information, and proof of payment.
You can submit the superbill directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific plan, deductible, coverage limits, and out-of-network benefits. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to ask whether acupuncture is covered and what documentation they require.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is often an eligible expense for HSA and FSA accounts. VIVO accepts HSA/FSA cards when available, and can also provide an itemized receipt or superbill for your records. Coverage and eligibility can vary by plan, so we recommend checking with your HSA/FSA administrator if you have questions about reimbursement.
-
VIVO asks for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. This policy helps protect appointment availability and allows enough time for another patient to be offered the opening.

Your first visit includes a comprehensive intake, health history review, and your first acupuncture treatment. We’ll talk through your current concerns, symptoms, lifestyle, goals, and any relevant medical history so your care plan is tailored to you. After your treatment, you’ll receive personalized recommendations for treatment frequency and any supportive lifestyle, nutrition, herbal, or supplement considerations that may be appropriate.
-
The number of sessions depends on your goals, health history, how long the concern has been present, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients feel a shift after one visit, while more chronic or complex concerns usually benefit from consistent care over several weeks or months.
After your first visit, we’ll discuss a personalized treatment plan, including recommended frequency and an estimated timeline based on your needs. Our goal is to make the plan clear, realistic, and supportive without overcommitting you.
